Blue Ridge Trail passes by Billy Creek with a perennial supply of running water. There is a great variety of wildlife to be seen along this trail. Stay alert for signs of crayfish, raccoon, muskrat, beaver. Blue Ridge Mountain is volcanic in origin. It is one of the major geological features in the area. Scenic vistas of the forest, towns and roadways can be found near the top of the mountain.
Mountain Bikers may find the Blue Ridge trail to be quite a challenge, mainly because of the rocks which cover most of the trail surface.

Moving northeast from Trailhead #1, the trail climbs the west side of Blue Ridge Mountain through a mixture of pines, junipers, and shrub. Many varieties of wildflowers highlight this portion of the trail. Indian paintbrush, penstemon, sunflower, daisy, aster, thistle, gilias, and yarrow are just a few of the plants that can be observed. Between Trailhead #1 and the top of blue Ridge Mountain, the trail meets one end of the Blue Ridge Cave Trail. Between Trailhead #2 and Billy Creek, the trail meets the connector trail to the Springs Trail.

From Lakeside, drive toward McNary on Highway 260. Turn left on Buck Springs Road. Drive 0.6 miles. Turn left onto FR 182. Drive 1.5 miles. Turn left onto FR 187. Drive 0.3 miles to trailhead #2 on the right. To reach trailhead #1, continue driving for approximately 3 miles. Trailhead #1 is on the left.
